On July 27th, Intel released their 2nd quarter results and did a conference call with analysts. Today I will review some of the terms used during the call.
The goal of our series is to study the semiconductor industry so by the end of 2023 we will understand the technology, business, and politics surrounding the industry. Part of understanding the industry is learning the terms used. If you are unfamiliar with the semiconductor industry, please read the previous posts in this series.

Data Prep: The steps taken to transform data so that it can be used to train an artificial intelligence model.
5G (5th Generation): The 5th generation of mobile networks.
SoC (System on a Chip): A chip that has multiple components built on it.
PRQ (Production Release Qualification): The process Intel uses to test if a product meets the company's quality and performance standards.
EUV (Extreme Ultraviolet): Describes the wavelength of light measuring 13.5 nanometers. ASML machines use this wavelength of light to design chips.
Foveros: Intel's way of designing chips where the chips are stacked on top of each other.
Next Unit of Compute (NUC): Intel's mini PC. As of July 18 2023, Asus will manufacture, sell, and support the 10th - 13th generation NUC's.
AlphaFold: An AI program developed by Alphabet's subsidiary, DeepMind, to study and predict the structure of proteins.
Volume Validation: Using large amounts of data to test the performance of software.
